Yuan is dedicated to the study of Chinese language and literature. As a fellow at the Social Science Academy of China, Yuan lead, participated, and organized major research projects, such as editing the Dictionary of Contemporary Literature Terms and writing the Guangdong Subvolume Encyclopedia. He was a professor of Chinese compositon and Chinese modern literature. He is a published author of numerous papers and articles in prestigeous literary and culture magazines in China. Yuan enjoys learning Chinese calligraphy and painting.
Ting was born in Guangzhou, China. Her father Yuan, an accomplished writer, instilled a love of the literary arts and encouraged her strong curiosity and appreciation for story-telling and Chinese culture and language. The Learning Lotus Project is modeled after her own experiences learning to read and write Chinese. Ting is the founder and creative director of Pixelatoms, a multimedia creative studio. She holds a degree in Biophysics and is fascinated by Science, Art and Technology. Some of her interests are 3DPrinting, Robotics, and Biohacking.
Phillip is an illustrator, animator and graphic designer. Phillip is lending his background in the visual arts to help bring out the meaning and cultural significance behind Chinese characters in fun and interesting ways. "The Learning Lotus Project is a unique and thought provoking way of exploring the Chinese language. As a novice of Mandarin, I have been consistently intrigued by the depth and cultural significance that can be found in each and every Chinese character." Phillip is the Art Director @ Pixelatoms and considers himself one of the project's first students.
